I Am a Child of the Caribbean was written by Juliette Low when she was eleven years old in response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Her poem combines the beauty of language with the reality of the devastation in Haiti. It is a powerful emotional statement that includes Juliette's fears as well as her hopes, her understanding of the Haitian culture and the need for everyone to do their part.
